Gluten Free Steak Marinade!

So since I had my child over two years ago, I've started to travel down the road of living a Gluten Free life with the main staple food I basically lived on my whole life.  Never again will I be able to taste a Dunkin' Donuts donuts or a tasty muffin ever again.  Hearing about this new diet change was a very, very tough bite to swallow.  But since I'm slowly getting use to this new change in my life.  I wanted to share a few recipes which I found tasty and rather easy to enjoy...

This recipe I found from a few blogger and wanted to give them most of the credit but still enjoyed it very much.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the way, this was so good!  The quantity varies depending on how many people you are going to serve.  In my case the recipe below was for three of us.  Thankfully I have a big crockpot! :)

Ingredients:

  • Steak (2 New York Strip Steaks and 1 Porterhouse Steak)
  • Potatoes (one for each person)
  • Corn on the Cobb (one for each person, or more if desired)
  • 2 tbsp. oil for searing the steaks- I used Canola Oil
  • salt
  • pepper
  • butter or vegan butter spread
Marinade Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup French's Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 glove garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
  1. Place 2 tbsp. oil in a frying pan on medium high heat
  2. Once oil is hot add your steaks one at a time and sear for two minutes on each side. Then sear around the edges of the steak to seal in the juices.
  3. Place steaks in the bottom of the crockpot.
  4. Combine all ingredients for the marinade in a glass jar.  Close tightly and shake to combine.  Pour over steak.
  5. Cover with a sheet of aluminum foil (this will separate the meat from the vegetables).
  6. Slice your potatoes almost all the way through and pull back the sections so that you can sprinkle the inside of the potato with salt and pepper and stuff with butter.
  7. Individually wrap the potatoes in aluminum foil and place in the crockpot.
  8. Tear off sections of aluminum foil that will be big enough to wrap each ear of corn individually.  Spread butter over the sheets of aluminum foil and lightly sprinkle with salt (this will butter the corn on the cobb all the way around).
  9. Individually wrap each ear of corn and place in the crockpot.
  10. Close the lid and put the crockpot on high for 5 1/2 hours.
  11. Reduce head to Low or Warm and cook an additional 2 hours.
When dinner is done I like to pour some of the left over juices on my steak. Yumm!  However, be careful when taking the steak out of the crockpot.  The meat will literally fall off the bone.  I had to use a really big spatula to keep the steak in tact (for presentation purposes only of course).

My first d.i.y.

While looking around online, I was trying to figure out what I could do that was different for my husband for Valentines Day and saw there where many, many women whom had done this project on pinterest; so I decided to give it a try myself.  It took me about 6 weeks to complete with getting all the materials and working when I had the "spare time" or whatever that's callled when chasing after a 2yr old and an 8month old puppy.

So here's how it came out...

This is how the pile of Letters looked once I had stacked them up and put the all together.  There was a total of 20 letters in the gift one pertaining to how one might be feeling.  He could make this gift last one day or one year.  It was all up to him and when he decided to open up the letters.  I told him he could make it last as long as he's like, it was all up to him.  These are the topics I decided on for his letters...
Open When...
  • you recieved this package
  • you need to feel my love
  • you're feeling "naughty"
  • we had an arguement
  • you're bored
  • you're angry or upset (but not at me)
  • you need a reminder how far we've come together
  • you need a pep-talk
  • I'm mad at you
  • you need to know how much I love you
  • you miss me
  • you're feeling down
  • you just need a few laughts
  • you're not feeling handsome or accomplished
  • you're grumpy
  • you had a bad day (in general)
  • you need my love
  • you're happy
  • you're feeling stressed out
  • you need a few jokes
I made my own envelopes using my Cricut cutter and found little things which where near and dear to my heart to put in each of the envelopes. All envelopes included: A personalized note, some special inserts (pictures, poems, etc...) and I even added some photos I've taken along the way of the two of us to include.  Let your mind wander and enjoy what you can do...

What the outside looked like.  Most chalkboard paint, some plastic jewels and used Washbi tape for the top lip of the pail.

The inside I used modge podge to get the paper to stick to the sides and used once again Chalkboard Paint at the top so I'm able to add my own message.

This idea mainly came from Orientaltradingcompany's idea of a "love note" box one could do for Valentines day.  I just simply put my own spin on things.  It's a good idea if you are wanting to make something different for someone or to show them in a different way how much you love them.

My first post!

Good Evening Fellow Followers!
Since I'm new at this whole "blog" thing, I ask you give me some pointers and patients as the idea of blogging is new to moi. So basically here is how it goes....
I'm a stay at home mom and get the joy of spending my days during the week with my partner in crime James and our furry friend "Bailey" our most recent member of the family. Most days I'm hanging around the house in PJ's or sweatpants playing with my small family.  Sometimes when they both are entertaining themselves I'll sneak into my craftroom my dear husband set up for me in the meantime.  Our plan is to finish it off this upcoming summer.  I usually can either work on some of my crafts I'm working on, my jewerly business or just simply be able to let my mind wander where it wants to when I either draw, paint or sketch.

So look forward to more fun home crafts I do while at home and share with the world. Check back ever so often and see what it is that I've posted mostly a few times a week.
